Con-form Group was asked to install a 6.0m x 5.4m rafter-mount light gauge steel HVACR platform on the roof of an old building with a highly compromised roof structure. The aged rafters were not parallel, pitched at different angles, and varied in height, creating a challenge for installation.
Our Engineering department designed a unique steel packer weldment that sat between the rafter and the platform truss. This custom stub column was made to different lengths for each connection point, allowing for a quick and cost-effective installation.
Con-form Group was asked to install a 6.0m x 5.4m rafter-mount light gauge steel HVACR platform on the roof of an old building with highly compromised roof structure.
At the space allocated for the platform the aged rafters were not parallel with each other. In addition, they were pitched at different angles and were also a variety of heights.
There was no constant level across the splayed roof structure.
Our Engineering department came up with a quick and cost-effective solution. They designed a unique steel packer weldment which sat between the rafter and the platform truss. This custom stub column had to be made to a different length for each connection point between the platform and the roof.
The 3D CAD designs were transferred to our Manufacturing Centre of Excellence where each individually-sized packer was produced in a very short time.
The outcome was that the prefabricated platform was installed at its usual rapid pace and the project deadline was met.
