This double decker platform and screen system on the roof of Deception Bay Market Square features hundreds of square metres of acoustic HVAC equipment screens which reduce HVACR equipment noise from reaching surrounding residences.

Three sides are covered by our Acoustic+ which is a steel interlocking panel featuring a layer of absorptive polyethylene fibrous material. Made from recycled drink bottles, it has holes which trap sound thus creating a three-phase absorb-reflect-absorb operation. The material has a high Noise Reduction Coefficient of 0.75. It is also Australia’s only tuneable system meaning it can be altered on each side of the platform according to various sound output levels.

The lower screen is 1500mm high and the top one is 2400mm high and they are finished in an attractive Colorbond Surfmist colour which blends in with the overall roof area. As is common with our shopping centre screens it also serves as a strategic space for signage allowing the retail brand to be seen from some distance away.

Acoustic+ is designed, tested (by industry professionals and acoustic experts) and manufactured by Con-form Group to suit each individual application. It is moisture, UV and fire resistant. The steel components are covered by a 25 year warranty and the replaceable item by 10 years.

The fourth side of the HVAC&R platform features our LouvreWall. Not only does it obscure the unsightly HVACR machinery from view, the angled blades allow 70% airflow through to ventilate the plant equipment.

All of these screens are attached to our EasyMech MR platform which sits on top of metre-high supports. The modular and lightweight steel design – which is much more advanced than traditional structured steel platforms – is delivered to site as a flat pack which is quickly and easily carried into position by our installers. There is no welding or cutting required, the joists and bearers simply bolt together. This platform is rated to a live load rating of 5 kPa. The platform is positioned over the building’s purlins and it distributes weight across them. There is no need to cut into the roof because it has a unique penetration-free design, which contributes to rapid installation.
