Playfair Street is in the midst of Sydney’s congested and bustling historic area, The Rocks, in the shadow of the Harbour Bridge.

With buildings close together and the public walking below in the laneways it is imperative that rooftop HVACR noises be kept to an absolute minimum. Which is why this harbourside building sought out our high-performance soundproof panels: Acoustic+ Wall.

Acoustic+ Wall is a lightweight interlocking steel panel system which can be attached to a platform, directly to a concrete membrane roof or as in this case to a pre-existing structure. To ensure optimum sound reduction the wall was over three metres high and its tuneable noise insulation panel had the third-most surface density (19 kilograms per square metre). The high wall surrounded an area of close to 100 square metres.

Being a lightweight, modular system it was easy to crane up to the roof and the installation was completed rapidly.
