An Acoustic Wish List for Architects, Engineers and Specifiers

When planning your next roof-mounted or ground-mounted acoustic perimeter wall, there are seven essential features to consider.

Together, these criteria help ensure your noise mitigation solution delivers the right balance of acoustic performance, practicality, cost-effectiveness and architectural appeal.

1. Tunable

Can the wall provide different levels of acoustic performance across different sections of the roof or project area?

A tunable system allows its performance to be matched to the amount of noise generated in each location, helping avoid unnecessary materials and costs.

2. Three-Way Noise Mitigation

Does the system provide absorb–reflect–absorb performance?

An effective acoustic wall should manage sound travelling from different directions rather than relying on a single method of noise control.

3. Lightweight

Is the wall and supporting frame system as light as possible?

A lightweight system, approximately 10–20 kilograms per square metre—can reduce structural requirements while simplifying transportation and installation.

4. Variable

Is the system available in different sizes and configurations?

A variable acoustic wall allows the appropriate amount of surface mass and acoustic performance to be used in each noise location.

5. Scalable

Can the wall be expanded cost-effectively in the future?

A modular and scalable system can accommodate future changes to rooftop equipment, site requirements or noise levels.

6. Easily Attached

Can the system be mounted easily to a concrete or steel roof, ground structure or rooftop platform?

Straightforward attachment can simplify installation and reduce disruption on site.

7. Warranted

Is the acoustic wall supported by a 25-year warranty?

A comprehensive warranty provides confidence in the system’s durability and long-term performance.

To tick the first box, you’ll need to speak with Con-form Group.

Working in collaboration with acoustic engineers, we developed Australia’s first and only tunable modular acoustic wall system. We call it Tunable Technology.

This technology allows us to match the acoustic performance of each wall section to the level of noise directed towards it—providing effective performance where it is needed most.
